Weather Calendars Photo Submission Guidelines

2011 Edition

Hit us with your best shot(s)! We are now accepting entries for the 2011 Weather Calendar competition. A cash prize of $200 will be awarded to the individual who submits the winning front cover image. Winning monthly and weekly images will be featured in our regional Weather Calendars.

Photographs to Submit:

  • Weather events, optical phenomena (sun halo, rainbow, crepuscular rays, etc.)
  • Wildlife, plants, in natural settings that feature a weather phenomenon, or show seasonal change, i.e., leaf change, budding of trees, flowering, fruit ripening, animal migration, etc.
  • People enjoying the outdoors in all seasons
  • Landscapes and scenic views and natural scenes of your region

We favor outstanding images of weather, wildlife and natural signs of seasonal change; on land, in the air, or underwater, from you state. Clearly label animals as wild or captive in the caption information (animals in the wild are preferred). Do not submit black and white photos, or images captured with cell phone cameras. Composition should be pleasing and not include overhead wires, or other obstructions.

Entrants must not infringe on the rights of any other photographer or person or submit images that involve the harassment of wildlife or damage to the environment by the photographer. Conrad Group reserves the right to disregard any images that do not fit the theme of this photo contest.

Rules:

The photo competition is open to ALL photographers – talented amateurs or professionals. By submitting your images, participants warrant that your images are original, do not infringe on any third party’s rights, and that participant has obtained any necessary permissions from any third party if a third party or third party’s property appears in the photograph.

Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible. Photographs must be in a .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format. Files submitted may not be larger than 2,048k (2Mb). High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable. The finalists will be asked to submit a high-resolution file or an original negative, print or slide. DO NOT SUBMIT HIGH-RESOLUTION IMAGES UNLESS REQUESTED. Original negatives, prints, or slides will be returned to finalists.

All photos should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, adjustments to color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified. This includes the digital addition or deletion of objects in the photos.

Each image should be sent separately and include the month the photo was taken in the subject line of the email message. In the body of the email message please include the subject, a caption (if you have one), location, your name, address, and phone number and size of the camera in mega pixels, or make and model of the camera.

Legal conditions:

By submitting an image to the Conrad Group for consideration you hereby grant permission and rights to store, display, and use the image, its thumbnails, and your name as the photographer, on any of the Conrad Group or associated sponsoring television station websites and in any of its advertising or promotional materials printed, on-line, and on television without compensation. Entrants retain ownership and all other rights to future use of their photographs.

In no event will the Conrad Group, their sponsoring television stations, their advertising and promotional agencies, or their directors, officers, employees, attorneys, agents and representatives be responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any kind, including direct indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising out of participant’s access to and use of the their websites, or the downloading or uploading and/or printing of material from said sites.

WHEN:

You may submit images any time of the year, however the judging deadline for 2011 calendar submissions is July 15, 2010.

WHY:

Winning Front Cover photographers will receive $200 cash. All other entrants whose photographs are published in the Weather Calendars will receive a free calendar and a discount of 30% off the purchase of additional calendars.
