Weather Calendars Photo Submission Guidelines

2011 Edition

Hit us with your best shots! We invite you to submit your favorite weather, wildlife and seasonal images for our Weather Calendar photography competition. Winning images will be featured in our 2011 Weather Calendars.

Photographs to Submit:

• Weather events in your region.
• Wildlife, plants, in natural settings that feature a weather phenomenon, or show seasonal change, i.e., leaf change, budding of trees, flowering, animal migration, etc.
• People enjoying the outdoors in all seasons
• Landscapes and scenic views and natural scenes of your region.

We are looking for striking images of weather, wildlife and nature seasonal change; on land, or in the air from your immediate region. Clearly label animals as wild or captive in the caption information (animals in the wild are preferred, but captive animals may be considered for selection). No black and white photos. Composition should be pleasing and not include overhead wires, or other obstructions.

Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, adjustments to color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified. This includes the digital addition or deletion of objects in the photos.

Rules:

The photo competition is open to ALL photographers – amateur or professional. By entering, participants warrant that his or her entry materials are original, do not infringe on any third party’s rights, and that participant has obtained any necessary permissions from any third party if a third party or third party’s property appears in the photograph.

Legal conditions:

By submitting an image to the Conrad Group for consideration in the Weather Calendar/s, you hereby grant permission and rights to store, display, and use the image, its thumbnails, and your name as the photographer, on any of the Conrad Group or associated sponsoring television station websites and in any of its advertising or promotional materials printed, on-line, and on television. Entrants retain ownership and all other rights to future use of their photographs.

In no event will the Conrad Group, their sponsoring television stations, their advertising and promotional agencies, or their directors, officers, employees, attorneys, agents and representatives be responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any kind, including direct indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising out of participant’s access to and use of the their websites, or the downloading or uploading and/or printing of material from said sites.

Entrants must not infringe on the rights of any other photographer or person or submit images that involve the harassment of wildlife or damage to the environment by the photographer.

WHEN:

We accept submissions throughout the year.

WHY:

Winning cover photographs will receive $200 plus one (1) free calendar, the inside cover and main monthly photographs will receive two (2) free calendars, and cameo photographs selected for the monthly pages will receive one (1) free calendar.

HOW:

Each participant may submit up to 30 photographs total. Images should be submitted in JPG or TIFF format. For the initial email submission, file sizes must not be greater than 2 megabytes per image. If your photo is selected, you will be notified using the same email address you submitted with. You will be given instructions on submitting the high-resolution image for further consideration.

Each image should be sent separately and include the month the photo was taken in the subject line of the email message. In the body of the email message; please include the subject, a caption (if you have one), location, your name, address, and phone number and size of the camera in mega pixels. If you wish to send your images on a CD (include a shot sheet including the information identified above), please send via U.S. Postal Service to:

IMPORTANT: If your image is selected, you will be asked to provide the original file. Original slides or negatives for scanned photographs must be available on request, but do not send them unless requested.
