Weather Calendars Photo Submission Guidelines

2009 – 2010 CALENDARS

Hit us with your best shots!  We invite you to submit your favorite weather and seasonal images for our Weather Calendar photography competition.  Winning images will be featured in our 2009 and 2010 Weather Calendars. 

You can submit as many as 20 images in any combination of the following categories:

Categories:

• Weather events in your region.
• Wildlife, plants, in natural settings that feature a weather phenomenon, or show seasonal change, i.e., leaf change, budding of trees, flowering, animal migration, etc.  
• People enjoying the outdoors in all seasons
• Landscapes and scenic views and natural scenes of your region.    

Rules: 
The photo competition is open to ALL photographers – amateur or professional.  Your entry constitutes your agreement to allow your entered photographs – and your name, city, state and country of residence to be published in the calendar/s on the Conrad Group website, on the television (media sponsor’s) website and used for promotions of the Weather Calendar/s.  Entrants retain ownership and all other rights to future use of their photographs. 

Legal conditions:  
By entering this competition, you agree to these entry rules and the following legal conditions:
By entering, participants warrant that his or her entry materials are original, do not infringe on any third party’s rights, and that participant has obtained any necessary permissions from any third party if a third party or third party’s property appears in the photograph. 

By submitting an image to the Conrad Group for consideration in the Weather Calendar/s, you hereby grant permission and rights to store, display, and use the image, its thumbnails, and your name as the photographer, on any of the Conrad Group or associated sponsoring television station websites and in any of its advertising or promotional materials printed, on-line and on television. Use of photograph is granted without compensation.

In no event will the Conrad Group, their sponsoring television stations, their advertising and promotional agencies, or their directors, officers, employees, attorneys, agents and representatives be responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any kind, including direct indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising out of participant’s access to and use of the their websites, or the downloading or uploading and/or printing of material from said sites. 

What: 
We are looking for striking images of weather and seasonal change; on land, or in the air from your immediate region.  These images may show animal behavior, plant life, natural landscapes, or people interacting with weather and/or seasonal change.  Captive animals photographed in zoos are acceptable.  Clearly label animals as wild or captive in the caption information.  No black and white photos.  Composition should be pleasing and not include overhead wires, or other obstructions. 
Entrants must not infringe on the rights of any other photographer or person or submit images that involve the harassment of wildlife or damage to the environment by the photographer.  Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, adjustments to color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified.  This includes the digital addition or deletion of objects in the photos.

When: 
The deadline for 2009 calendar submissions is July 1, 2008; (June 15, 2009 for 2010 calendars.)  Entries may be uploaded starting January 1, 2008, and must be uploaded no later than 11:59 pm Mountain Daylight Saving Time on July 1, 2008. 

Why:  
Winning photographers will receive one (1) free calendar.  A listing of photographer’s names, email addresses and website addresses will be provided on the Conrad Group website; www.weather-calendar.com. 

How: 
Each participant may submit up to 20 photographs total. Camera-made digital images or scans of slides or prints should be uploaded as low-resolution jpegs.  At 72 dpi, jpegs should be no smaller than 3x5 inches and no larger than 5x7 inches, with a maximum file size of 500KB.

Each image should be sent separately and include the month the photo was taken in the subject line of the email message.
In the body of the email message; please include the subject, a caption (if you have one), location, your name, address, and phone number and size of the camera in mega pixels.   

IMPORTANT: If your image is selected, you will be asked to provide the original file.  Original files should be (3) mega pixels or larger.  Original slides or negatives for scanned photographs must be available on request, but do not send them unless requested. 
The Conrad Group is not responsible for lost, damaged, late or misdirected entries, or for uploading connections, garbled transmissions, unauthorized intervention or technical malfunctions.
